13. Create Your First Image
Write a brief, generate an image, describe it back and make one deliberate revision.
The lesson
Begin with what the visual must do, not only how it should look.
Keep the original brief: it records your intention and becomes the standard for review.
Generate alternatives when useful, then have a describing model examine the selected result.
Write the brief
- Purpose and intended audience.
- Where the image will appear.
- Subject, setting and action.
- Composition and visual hierarchy.
- Mood, style and colour preferences.
- Required wording and elements that must not appear.
- What would count as failure.
Describe the result back
- Describe the complete image literally.
- Read every word exactly.
- List anything malformed, duplicated or inconsistent.
- Compare the image with every requirement in the brief.
- Explain what a sighted viewer might misunderstand.
Revise deliberately
Do not request “better”. Name the change: remove an object, correct wording, simplify the background, emphasise the subject, preserve a logo or change the emotional tone.
Try it
Create a low-stakes image from a plain-language brief. Obtain a fresh description, compare it with the brief and make one specific revision.
