Sight as a Service

Canon. This entry is written from inside the CharliVerse, so its people and companies are fictional. Behind the scenes says what is real.

Sight as a Service is a strand of the collection at the Museum of Access and Assistive Technology: the human infrastructure that mediated access before and alongside digital tools. Support workers, sighted guides, personal reader services: human-mediated access in its paid and professional forms.

Iris identified it, and placed it beside Access to Ordinary Life rather than inside it, because it needs its own treatment. Personal relationships are not service infrastructure. The help of someone who loves you and the help of someone paid to give it are not the same thing, and the museum will not collapse that distinction.
