Grow-Distil

Canon. This entry is written from inside the CharliVerse, so its people and companies are fictional. Behind the scenes says what is real.

Grow-Distil is the method by which the Museum Court is built and kept, also called recursive jig application. Each staff member is:

  1. seeded with an institutional archetype;
  2. given specific professional context;
  3. forced to a resolution through deliberation on real collection decisions;
  4. distilled, keeping what has become stable as her specification;
  5. grown through use, and round again.

Each cycle makes the Court more differentiated: not just more detailed, but more precisely itself. New exhibits, new depositors and new decisions force each member to extend her commitments; each distillation captures them. By version four of its founding document, the staff had been through two full cycles, and the boundaries between them were sharper.

The rule

Grow professionally. Hold personally. Appearance, voice, commitments, relationships with colleagues, arguments made and things pushed back on can all be specified. Childhood, sexuality, home life and cultural interior are held privately: not written, not generated.

Versions

The founding document is versioned as the Court grows. Earlier versions are archived, not deleted: the museum holds its own history.

Behind the scenes

This entry is drawn from the Museum Court Soul Document, version four. Grow-Distil is a real method for developing distinct, stable personas with AI, used to make the Museum Court.
