# Blind Drawing School

> Blind Drawing School is a proposed school in a Blind Ant design-fiction project, exploring how blind and partially sighted people might learn to draw with code.

**An idea, not yet canon.** This entry is written from inside the CharliVerse, so its people and companies are fictional. Behind the scenes says what is real.

**Blind Drawing School** is an imagined school where blind and partially sighted students learn to draw pictures of their own. Its pupils use code pencils: programming languages that construct lines, shapes and images on a digital canvas, with an AI drawing tutor helping them learn techniques and examine the results.

## Learning to draw

The proposed teaching includes proportion, perspective, composition and colour, with later progression towards colouring and painting. Each student would keep an accessible sketchbook containing drawings, instructions, revisions and reflections.

The student retains artistic control. A lesson about drawing a house should help the student learn to construct one, rather than simply have an AI generate a finished picture. Beginners are allowed to make bad drawings.

## A proposed curriculum

The first proposed course has eight classes inspired by the Royal Drawing School’s [Drawing Foundations](https://royaldrawingschool.org/courses/drawing-foundations) programme. Longer-term ambitions include programmes inspired by Key Stages 1, 2 and 3 of the English art curriculum. These are proposals, not operating courses or established teaching results.

## Behind the scenes

Blind Drawing School is a [Blind Ant Piece](https://blind-ant.com/pieces/blind-drawing-school/) written and directed by Charlotte Joanne. It contains the fictional prospectus [Welcome to Blind Drawing School](https://blind-ant.com/pieces/blind-drawing-school/welcome/) and her personal essay [Learning to Draw Again, After 40 Years](https://blind-ant.com/pieces/blind-drawing-school/learning-to-draw-again/).

It is not an operating school: there are no enrolled students, teaching staff, premises or accredited courses. The proposed tools are to be built and tested using Claude Skills, SVG and code-based drawing. The project does not commit Charlotte Joanne to establishing an educational organisation.

The Royal Drawing School is real. Blind Drawing School is not affiliated with or endorsed by it.
