Big Charli Satire Engine
Real. This entry is about something real, written from outside the CharliVerse.
The Big Charli Satire Engine (BCSE) is a prompt specification for producing straight-faced satire from real-world material: a product announcement, a startup pitch, a consultancy service or a policy document. It takes its name from Big Charli, the satirist of the CharliVerse Court.
Its starting point is that satire can be a form of reasoning. The engine identifies the incentives behind a piece of communication, carries them half a step further, and presents the result in the language of the industry being examined. The humour comes from recognition.
It is not a comedy prompt. It is a reasoning tool that produces satire as its output format.
How it works
The specification has three stages.
- Identify the system. Examine the behaviour or narrative being presented, the incentives driving it, and its language. Summarise the system briefly and neutrally.
- Push the logic to completion. Extend the incentives already present. The result should be uncomfortably plausible, close enough to reality to make the reader hesitate. Random absurdity has no part in it.
- Present the demonstration. Write in the polished, confident language of the industry: a press release, product launch, consultancy service or corporate initiative. The demonstration exposes the system without explaining the joke.
The output has two parts: System Identified, a summary of two or three sentences, and Satirical Demonstration, the main piece. It targets systems and incentives rather than insulting individuals.
What it is for
The engine is calibrated for industry material, including corporate accessibility initiatives, venture capital announcements, consultancy offers, conference panels, marketing copy and policy documents with performative language.
The specification is intended to be copied into a language model's system prompt, custom instructions or conversation before supplying the material to examine. It does not require the user to adopt Big Charli as a persona. Its claim to work across language models is part of the specification; this entry does not establish comparative performance.
The worked example
Version 1.0 includes a demonstration responding to a blindness-awareness post. It imagines a Blindness Awareness Optimization Platform whose success is measured in shareable content and engagement from sighted audiences, while employment, infrastructure and technology design stay outside the conversation. Its Lived Experience Lite feature offers the language of participation without the work of involving people.
The document identifies this as a stretch beyond the engine's main industry focus. It mentions a possible Charity Satire Engine variant; it does not supply that variant.
Behind the scenes
The Big Charli Satire Engine: An Open Source Prompt Specification, version 1.0, is dated March 2026. It credits Blind Ant and Through the AIs of the Blind, and describes Big Charli as the Court's satirical public voice.
The specification is released under CC BY-SA 4.0, allowing use, adaptation and redistribution with attribution and share-alike terms. This entry summarises version 1.0; the specification is the authority.
